The New Jersey, American Legion Baseball Scholarship Program is administered by a State Scholarship Committee  under the supervision of the State Baseball Committee. The Scholarship Committe is membered by:

2009 Scholarship Applications are mailed out of the American Legion Headquarters in Trenton. To be eligible, the player must be graduating in June 2010. The applications need to be completed as instructed and submitted to the players League Baseball Chairman or individual designated in the letter of instructions by OCTOBER 15, 2009. Each League Chairman or Individual designated will have 30 days to select a set number of players. The number of players / applicants each league chairman can select is equal to the number of positions the league has in the Senior State District Tournament.  The League Chairman or Designated Individual must send the selected scholarship applications to the Scholarship District Chairman by November 15.

      Rusty Kolins - Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland,
                             Gloucester, Ocean, Salem Counties)

Final Judging will be conducted before the First State Baseball Meeting in 2010

David C. Goodwin Memorial Scholarship - $4,000.00

   This Scholarship awards $1000 per year for 4 years to a New Jersey American
    Legion Baseball Player who played between his Junior and Senior year in High
    School as a 17 year old.

Ernest Zardetto Memorial Scholarship - $2,000.00

   This Scholarship awards $500 per year for 4 years to a New Jersey American
    Legion  Baseball Player.

National Scholarship
Prior to 2008 - amount awarded - $1,000.00
                                   2008 - amount awarded: $600 - $750

Each Team that is sponsored by an American Legion Post  may nominate one player for consideration of this award.

Directions on where to mail the completed application are provided with the application. Remember the Manager of the Team or the designated American Legion Post Officer needs to sign the application

Fifty-one (51) players (one per Department or State) will be awarded a $1000 scholarship. Scholarship recipient will be eligible to receive their scholarship immediately upon graduation from an accredited high school. Scholarship must utilize the total award within (8) years of their graduation date excluding active military duty. The scholarship may be used to attend a school selected by the student providing it is state accredited, and above the high school level.

The National Treasurer of the American Legion will make disbursement from the scholarship fund jointly to the student and the school at the beginning of each semester
